Awkward Hug

The countdown to this moment began as soon as the tanks began to make their way through the door on the tractor (vertical position was only temporary).  As is usually the case inside a brewery, it feels like it has been months since we made the announcement of a small expansion in the brewery that would finally allow us to regularly produce clean IPAs. Turns out, it was not even a month ago!  And our first IPA is ready (aren’t IPAs great?!).

Soon after the glycol system would be set up, or so we thought, and ready to mash in.  Of course, that night we spent taking turns running into the brewery through a thunderstorm to manually open and close the zone valves to keep the fermenting beer in our preferred temperature range.  And it was well worth it.

Awkward. Isn't it?

Awkward. Isn’t it?

By the start of the weekend, the entire batch will be delivered and should be on tap, pouring how every IPA should – as fresh as possible!

So head on down to one of these great bars we work with and ask the bartender for an Awkward Hug.

Alternate World

Out of a marriage of our love for things sour and hoppy, comes Alternate World! A 4.6% dry hopped gose.

A fermentation with our house brettanomyces strain and souring cultures creates succulent, tart and fruity flavors, balanced by a hint of salt and big American hops to pucker your cheeks and leave with you with a cleansed palate awaiting the next sip.  The modest alcohol content allows all of the flavors to shine and remain in balance for a super sessionable thirst quenching beer bound to refresh in the hot summer weather.

Alternate World Cropped

This batch will be draft only, but might find it’s way into some shiny new packaging soon…

In the meantime, the following bars (alphabetical order) and restaurants have all received kegs and should have it on tap soon!

Batch 4 for the 4th!

After taking some extra time to take care of a small expansion, and other tasks around the farm the newest batch of Field Beer Spelt is finally packaged and ready to hit the shelves in time for July 4th weekend!

Batch 4 of Field Beer features a slightly paler malt (the barley is still grown in CT) which allows our house yeast cultures to shine through for a more assertive tart and slight funk character and a drier finish that complements the cereal and earthy flavors of the raw spelt.
